Finally, DoPs has been buzzing with comments about the proposed new Pelham Manor shopping center across from BJs. One DoP, a veteran commercial real estate broker from town, was quite circumspect in posting
"There is no plan, just BS.
The numbers, the site work, the DEC, the stupid zoning change, the threat of condemnation do not make sense for retail, especially a home improvement / garden center. UPS, Fedex, and Pepsi all wanted the site -- but the rocket scientist previous board members were foolish.

ECG - Signs of the Times - Take 2 - Pelham Manor NY

Okay, when I first saw it from a distance, it reminded me, "Buy eggs."
(Rosalie called earlier and asked me to pick up a dozen.)

Next thought: "Well, that's kind of ugly. Doesn't fit in Pelham Manor."

Earlier this fall, Pelham Preservation and Garden Society raised and donated nearly $30,000 for traditional, non-obtrusive traffic light poles at Four Corners http://pelhampreservationsociety.com/id64.html.

So why did these metal signs suddenly pop up on poles on Pelhamdale?

Bicycle Paths! ECG is East Coast Greenway!

The bike path runs through the Manor estate area, down Shore Road, past Bartow Pell Mansion Museum, Pelham / Split Rock Golf Course, and on to City Island and beyond.

East Coast Greenway Alliance is based in Rhode Island. The non-profit's mission is

from 2009 Tax Return - East Coast Greenway Alliance
a 501(c)(3) Tax-Exempt Organization

They have a Cool Web Site with contact information.

So now when we sell homes in Pelham Manor on or near the ECG, not only can we point out the bicycle path, but also the shiny new signs.

22 are for sale as of this posting in Prospect Hill (the homes, not the signs) priced from $495,000 to $1,995,000. Here they are, just in case you're interested.
